"I am David Ryan, a professional vocal entertainer/singer, based in the North-West area. For the past 10 years I have worked professionally as a solo vocal entertainer, at both home, and abroad. Now I am back based in the North West of England.
I first really became interested in music when I was about 12, when I attended a private music school, and received tuition in musical comprehension (Piano), and then in my teens I concentrated on the guitar and I was told I had a good natural ear for music, and also found out that I could sing! As a rather shy youth, I also performed at several private functions, using resident sound systems.In my last year at school I won a talent contest, which made me think for the first time "I must have something?" and then in my late teens I fronted several bands, performing locally. By my early 20's, I found myself at a loose end, work wise. I had long been told that I should "sing professionally", and so I went out and spent a considerable amount of money on equipment. After a bit of 'door knocking' a few venues gave me a booking, and it was at one of them that I was approached by an agent and given a card. I took a booking off him for the following week, and by the following week after I had performed, I had work booked in for the next 8 months! Over the next 4 years I worked solidly, up to 5 times a week, in venues throughout the UK. I was also offered a residency in a club in Puerto Banus, Marbella, which I politely declined, as I didn't feel ready at that time to move abroad. However, since then, I have been abroad several times in summer season work (some places are year round) and for some time spent most of my time abroad. Then marriage, and the subsequent arrival of my children has seen me make more settled 'roots' as a 'family man' back in the North-West, and I have been working more locally back on the Northern Scene, since 2008."

"What is 'Stagecraft'? Stagecraft, I would say, is the difference between a singer and a performer. Not all venues cater for it, as you may be high up on a stage, quite a distance off the audience, without steps to climb down. But if the venue is suitable, a good level of stagecraft enhances the performance. Put basically, if you can interact with the audience, talk with them, possibly walk close to them, or among them....that IS stagecraft. Whenever possible, I try to have some interaction with the audience. A laugh, a joke, or something like that. After all, I am there to ENTERTAIN. So let's enjoy it!"

In my over 10 years in the business, I have performed both at home and abroad at events such as weddings, sporting events, and corporate functions.

I book for all kinds of private functions, and can 'tailor' a package to suit. This can come with me also providing backing music with lighting, before, in between, and after my performances. ***
Or I have contacts with reputable DJ's who can work with me, in order to give you a full DJ PLUS singer experience.
  
The last thing a couple want is to have to worry about the entertainment on their wedding day! Let me take care of it all for you. Entertainment is my job, and my reputation depends on my reliability!
  
What Do I Perform?

To be honest, that is the six million dollar question, or rather the answer is! I think at the last count my repertoire stood at 'around 500' songs. My usual answer to the question is that I sing all kinds of songs from over the past 50 years. I cover pop, rock, swing, soul, and everything else in between. To be honest, it depends on the AUDIENCE. I usually see what the crowd is like, and take it from there. I am not a singer who works from the same list of songs every week, as frankly, it wouldn't work for me. I'd get bored. And I play to that many different audiences, of all ages, that it would severely limit me to what I can do.) I also like to speak to people such as the comperé, if there is one, to get some idea of what people like in the venue

 

WEDDINGS/FUNCTIONS/SPECIAL BOOKINGS- If you book me and want a specific song, please give me at least 2 weeks prior warning. This is so I can obtain the track, if necessary, and learn to perform it. I have thousands of tracks readily available to me.

DRESS

I dress to suit the occasion and venue. For a wedding, for example, a smart suit and tie would be appropriate. A suit/jacket is worn on most occasions, anyway. My shoes are always polished to a high shine.

EQUIPMENT & BACKING

All my sound equipment and lighting is professional and has been PAT tested. I use a top class 'Shure' microphone system, and I have a great quality of sound from my system. All is professionally flight cased for transit.
My musical backing tracks are professionally recorded. If you listen carefully to the tracks, I have had them set up so it sounds as 'live' as possible, whilst being faithful as possible to the original track.
